Whiting Elementary Library Book Fair

Mark your calendars now, so you won’t miss our Scholastic Book Fair that will be held in the Whiting Elementary Library.

Tuesday, October 25th from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

(Parent – Teacher Conferences)

Wednesday, October 26th from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(Lunch with a Loved One for Preschool – 6th grade)

Thursday, October 27th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

We are pleased to bring you this Book Fair, because it gives you and your children the opportunity to buy carefully selected, quality books and products at affordable prices.  You’ll enjoy the excitement and atmosphere!  Plus, proceeds from this event will benefit our classroom and school libraries.

Communities Talk: Preventing Underage Drinking

Tuesday, March 22 • 6-8pm in the West Monona High School Auditorium

The Monona County Community Alliance is hosting an event for 7th-12th grade students, along with their parents, grandparents, teachers, and community members. The evening will focus on how the community can be involved in working together to prevent underage drinking.

Come for FREE pizza from 6:00-6:30pm with the meeting and video presentation hosted by Matt Damon to follow.

Learn about:

  • The very real consequences of underage and binge drinking.
  • Working together to educate, empower, and mobilize communities for real solutions.

Coat & Clothing Drive

The Whiting High School Sophomores are holding a coat and clothing drive for the people in need of staying warm for the winter. The drive will last from Thanksgiving Day to December 22nd. There will be a box available in the Whiting School lobby to donate. Any size can be donated. Call the school at 712.455.2468 or ask any 10th grader if you have any questions or concerns.

*Donations will be given to students who need the mittens and gloves in Whiting and the rest will be donated to the Gospel Mission in Sioux City.
