The Whiting students in Mrs. Dieger's Family & Consumer Science classes had a fundraiser to earn free products from Pampered Chef for the classroom kitchens.  Students were able to sell over $3,000 worth of products to family and friends in the area; and in turn earned $740 worth of items to use in their classes.

Some of the items the classes chose were new Rock Crok pans, measuring cups and spoons, utensils, and choppers.  Students have been enjoying using some of the new and updated items while cooking in class!  The top salesperson was Tanner Blatchford, who brought in over $1,000 in sales!  He earned $50 from the Pampered Chef representative for his efforts.  A big thank you goes out to all of the community members who made purchases from our students!

FCCLA: ISTEP against Tobacco in Whiting

On Friday April 7th, the high school FCCLA students went around town picking up trash and cigarette butts. This was part of the ISTEP program or Iowa Students for Tobacco Education and Prevention. Our students picked up over 500 cigarette butts from main street to the city park. Students also picked up any trash they saw along the way. The weather was perfect for this event. Students also left a red solo cup message in the fence in the back of the school. The message said: "BE TOBACCO FREE." This was to spread awareness against tobacco use to our students and staff.
